ZipCash Helps Keep Traffic Moving at South End of Dallas North Tollway TollTag users should not experience any change with ZipCash. They continue to have their tolls charged to their TollTag account at the TollTag rate ($0.60).
Customers who normally pay with cash become ZipCash customers when they travel either northbound or southbound through the Wycliff Toll Plaza. A digital image of their license plate will be captured and they will be billed at the ZipCash rate ($0.75), the regular cash rate. The mailing of invoices for ZipCash customers began on March 26.
ZipCash tolling is only available at the NTTA’s Wycliff Toll Plaza and is expected to remain in effect only through the end of construction.
“We want our customers to have a better experience as they travel through the Wycliff Toll Plaza, and we hope that their commutes have improved,” said Jerry Hiebert, Acting Executive Director of the NTTA. “We are also working with our contractor to get this project completed as quickly as possible. At this point, we are planning to be substantially completed with roadway construction by the end of the year, with some other construction continuing into 2008.”
Almost 40 years old, the southern section of the Tollway from south of Lemmon Avenue to IH-35E is in need of several major renovations and replacements; including new pavement, improved overpass bridges, the widening of and construction of new ramps at Oak Lawn Avenue, and the construction of a new Wycliff Avenue Main Lane Toll Plaza. This major project began in May 2006 and is scheduled to be completed within two years.
