South end update: Progress continues despite soggy weather In early August, the NTTA will be switching northbound traffic onto new concrete from Maple to Wycliff Avenues. Motorists can look forward to a smoother commute on this new surface.
Also, in August, the NTTA will be closing the south end of the Tollway for the fourth and final planned time to hang new bridge beams for the Cedar Springs Road bridge. At this time, we do not know the exact date and time of this closure, but we will make sure to notify residents, businesses and elected officials in the area. Soon after this closure the Cedar Springs Road Bridge will be complete.
Despite the recent wet weather, the overall project is still on track to be complete, with all lanes open to traffic, in Spring of 2008. The project includes the demolition of the original main toll plaza at Wycliff, reconstruction of the pavement from Lemmon Avenue south to IH-35E, replacement of the Oak Lawn bridge and widening of Oak Lawn as it approaches the Tollway from the east and west, construction of new ramp access to Oak Lawn and replacement of the Cedar Springs Road bridge to widen the approach into the plaza.
NTTA is working diligently to meet the traffic needs of the region and appreciates the patience and cooperation of our customers very much. We ask all motorists to slow down in areas of construction and pay attention to the signage to ensure the safety of motorists and construction crews. We will continue to improve your experience on our NTTA roadways.
