How ZipCash Works

Now that the President George Bush Turnpike has converted to all-electronic toll collection, customers with TollTags won’t notice much of a difference. But motorists without a TollTag, ZipCash customers, will have a new way to pay.  Instead of stopping to pay cash, ZipCash customers should KEEP MOVING.

The ZipCash billing process is simple: invoices are mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle after a digital image of the vehicle’s license plate is captured at each toll plaza. Texas law requires that the owner of the vehicle is responsible for toll payments, which are accepted online, over the phone and by mail. Bills are mailed continuously, as billing is based on toll usage.

The first invoice includes tolls only. A $2.50 late charge is assessed if payment is not received in 30 days of the invoice. If invoices are still not paid within another 15 days, a $25 administration fee will be charged for each transaction.

After continued nonpayment, accounts are forwarded to a collection agency, and the case eventually may wind up in court, with accompanying fines and fees.

So if you know someone who doesn’t have a TollTag yet, encourage them to sign up today. TollTag customers save you money, while ZipCash customers pay 50% more. You can also use your TollTag on any toll road in Texas, and you can get up to three TollTags per account at no additional charge. TollTags can also be used for parking and pass-through at DFW International and Dallas Love Field airports.
