NTTA Working To Improve Ramp Congestion in Plano

  • Add an additional lane to the existing direct connect ramp from the PGBT to the northbound lanes of the DNT
  • Eliminate weaving between traffic entering northbound on the DNT from the PGBT and traffic existing northbound on the DNT to Park Boulevard.

An initial set of recommendations was presented to the Plano City Council in August. The proposal consisted of the city providing approximately 15-percent, or $5 million, towards the cost of the ramp reconfiguration project. No action was taken during that meeting. Following the briefing of the city council, two public meetings and a roundtable discussion by city council members were organized to address public comments. Two public meetings were conducted on October 9 and 10, 2007. The roundtable discussion was held on November 1, 2007 for Plano’s District 2.

NTTA Executive Director Jorge Figueredo attended the meetings and NTTA Deputy Executive Director Rick Herrington attended the roundtable discussion. To help facilitate public input, comment cards were submitted to public meeting attendees. The NTTA, partnering with the City of Plano, continues to seek public input from area businesses and citizens and will soon determine the next steps in the process.
