Conversion to Cashless Tolling on Schedule for Dec. 10

Two years in the making, the NTTA will convert its remaining cash facilities to a cashless toll collection system on the evening of Dec. 10. Beginning Dec. 11 cash toll payments will no longer be accepted on the Dallas North Tollway, the Mountain Creek Lake Bridge or the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel. At that time, the toll system on the old structures at the Keller Springs Road and Parker Road main lane gantries will be disabled and tolling will occur at the newly constructed gantries. Toll rates for TollTag customers will remain the same.

On Dec. 11, it is important for customers to keep moving. However, during this transition NTTA is asking all drivers to be vigilant, patient and aware of customers who might be confused with the new system. NTTA continues to reach out to all customer groups to ensure a safe and smooth transition.

Construction crews have aggressively increased efforts on the Dallas North Tollway over the last month by installing main lane gantry columns and placing overhead structures, known as monotubes, which hold the electronic devices that read TollTags and the cameras that snap photos of non-TollTag vehicles.

Demolition of the older main lane and ramp plazas will begin immediately following the Dec. 10 conversion and will continue through late spring of next year
Construction on the DNT began in June 2010 and will continue through July 2011. To stay updated on the progress of this project and informed of scheduled lane closures, sign up for the weekly project e-newsletter.
