Electronic Tolling Moves Forward in 2010
Motorists traveling on the Dallas North Tollway (DNT), Mountain Creek Lake Toll Bridge (MCLB) and through the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel (AATT) will begin seeing the first steps of the conversion of those roadways to all-electronic toll collection.  The conversion is slated for the fourth quarter of 2010.  Benefits of only accepting TollTags and ZipCash include faster travel times, improved safety, better fuel efficiency and better air quality.Once converted, these facilities will no longer accept cash payments in the toll lanes. Safe-T Buzz: Sharing the Road with Big Rigs

Safety is a top priority at the NTTA, and in this month’s Safe-T Buzz feature, we would like to offer some tips on sharing the road with big rigs. To reduce the chance of a crash with a truck, drivers should first be familiar with a truck’s physical capabilities and common maneuvers. Many motorists falsely assume that truckers can see the road better because they sit twice as high as the driver of a car. While truckers do enjoy a better forward view and have bigger mirrors, they also have large blind spots. Unlike cars, trucks have deep Read More ›

TollTag Basics: Answers to Your Questions
Q: Do I have to wait for my permanent license plate before getting a TollTag or updating my account? For temporary (paper) plates, please update your vehicle by checking the “temporary plate” box, and include the expiration date. Once you receive your permanent license plates, you must update your account with the new information.  If you change license plates on your vehicle, you also may update your account online at www.ntta.org.  Throughout 2010, Driving Forward will include answers to some frequently asked questions you may have about your TollTag account, including information about maintaining your account, toll rates, interoperability, where to get TollTags, and much more.  So be sure to check back each month for more information! Read More ›
