FAQ of the Month

With the recent transition to cashless tolling, what do I do if I don’t drive on toll roads very often? Is there an option other than getting a TollTag?

Yes, but at a higher toll rate. NTTA offers ZipCash, a pay-by-invoice option at higher rate for customers who do not want to save with a TollTag. When a motorist without a TollTag drives through tolling points, high-speed cameras take digital images of the license plate, and the tolls are billed to the registered owner of the vehicle. ZipCash customers pay toll rates that are 50 percent higher than TollTag customers.  A premium is added to each toll to cover the costs of processing and collection.

Getting a TollTag is always the most cost effective and convenient option for paying tolls. The $40 balance on a TollTag account never expires, and the savings applies on all NTTA roads.
