NTTA Looks to Select Design-Builder for Chisholm Trail in Johnson County; Work Continues on Southwest Parkway in Fort Worth

Nearly six months ago, the NTTA began its phased procurement approach in search of a design-build contractor for the Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail (SWP/CT) from Farm-to-Market 1187 in southern Tarrant County south to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The first qualifications phase resulted in the short listing of three firms on August 2010. Throughout the second phase, the NTTA held workshops and one-on-one meetings to prepare the three shortlisted firms for submission of their final detailed proposals. On Dec. 17, 2010, the three firms submitted detailed proposals to the NTTA.

Meanwhile, construction continues on Southwest Parkway’s Section 2C in the Union Pacific Railroad Davidson Yard and on Section 3A, the Texas Department of Transportation led project at Interstate 20/State Highway 183/SWP interchange. Both projects are currently on schedule.

The SWP/CT corridor is anticipated to open to traffic in 2013.
