Work Continues to Deliver Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail is an important project to the North Texas region and to the NTTA as it will be the Authority's first project on the western portion of the Metroplex, in Tarrant and Johnson counties. This project will provide a critical north-south connector between Fort Worth and Cleburne and relieve congestion on IH 35W, reducing the negative impact to the air quality in North Texas. It will also generate economic development and thousands of jobs along the corridor.
Staff from the NTTA, Texas Department of Transportation, and Regional Transportation Council have been working in intensive collaboration over the last several weeks to develop a plan to finance and deliver Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail to the region. This comes after decades of work and financial commitment by the project partners and corridor cities.
“This renewed momentum and collaboration among the partners is a direct result of leadership on all sides that will result in progress on this very important mobility project,” said NTTA Executive Director Allen Clemson.
Multiple scenarios involving different phasing options and financial tools were presented to the RTC on Dec. 10 for consideration, but no final decisions have been made, and staff continues to explore multiple options. The group anticipates progress in the coming months and anticipates breaking ground in early to mid-2010.
