Two New Direct-Connectors Opening Soon on SRT/U.S. 75 Interchange; Crews Re-open DNT Exit to Gaylord Parkway in Frisco

The NTTA expects to open additional direct-connecting ramps on the new Sam Rayburn Tollway/U.S. 75 interchange in coming weeks.

The connector from northeast-bound SRT to southbound U.S. 75  will open Saturday, Dec. 18, followed by the connector from northbound U.S. 75 to the southwest-bound SRT later this month. These openings mean that a total of four direct-connectors will open to motorists, helping to more efficiently move traffic through the interchange.

When the SRT/U.S. 75 interchange in Allen, Fairview and McKinney is complete, six connectors will link the SRT and U.S. 75, providing drivers with direct main lane access between the two roadways. The NTTA will continue to open remaining links in the SRT/U.S. 75 interchange in phases in coming weeks. All major connectors will open in January.

Toll rates for the SRT are available at: http://www.ntta.org/AboutUs/Roadways/TollRates121.htm.

In the middle of the 26-mile SRT corridor, crews constructing the new SRT/Dallas North Tollway interchange continue to make significant progress. They re-opened the northbound DNT exit at Gaylord Parkway/Warren Parkway in Frisco nearly a week earlier than originally expected, allowing motorists access to the busy ramp prior to Thanksgiving and the busiest shopping day of the year.

In a little more than 90 days, crews removed the old tolling structure, completely reconstructed the ramp, and built a new cashless toll gantry. This work was vital to the SRT/DNT interchange improvement project in Frisco and Plano, where crews are constructing eight direct-connect bridges to link the two roadways.

When the new SRT/DNT interchange opens to traffic – forecasted to occur in January 2012 – motorists will no longer have to exit one tollway to access the other, as they do now. The fully directional interchange will allow traffic to continuously flow through the busy area, further improving regional mobility.
