NTTA Organizing Safety Summit The NTTA, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Mothers Against Drunk Driving will launch a safety summit with a kick-off meeting at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 14 at the NTTA headquarters, 5900 W. Plano Parkway, in Plano. Public safety officials, community groups and concerned citizens are invited to the kick-off meeting.
“The NTTA recognizes that safety challenges are not just limited to tollways,” said NTTA Executive Director Allen Clemson. “Dangers posed by unsafe motorcyclists, wrong-way drivers and drunken drivers impact every North Texas community.”
The NTTA, TxDOT and MADD are inviting public safety officials, community groups and concerned citizens from around the region to collaborate in a series of meetings as part of a comprehensive safety summit to identify safety issues and develop strategies to improve roadway safety.
The safety summit will begin with the kick-off meeting Jan. 14. Organizers will discuss the timeline and opportunities for involvement in the summit at the meeting. A series of town hall meetings for the public and workshops exclusively for public safety officials are planned throughout the year. Results and recommended initiatives developed from the safety summit are expected in the fourth quarter of 2011.
