NTTA Asks Drivers to 'Tie One On For Safety' Aiming to help keep its toll roads safe, the NTTA is sponsoring the Mothers Against Drunk Driving North Texas “Tie One On For Safety” campaign.
MADD created ‘Tie One On For Safety’, originally named the ‘Project Red Ribbon’ campaign, in 1986 to help heighten public awareness about drinking and driving during the holiday season. It was designed to encourage drivers to take action against drunken driving by tying a red MADD ribbon to their vehicle’s antenna or side mirror.
“The NTTA is grateful that organizations like MADD are so committed to stopping drunken driving, and we are proud to be sponsors of the ‘Tie One on for Safety’ campaign,” said NTTA Assistant Executive Director of Operations Clayton Howe. “We are asking everyone who plans to make alcohol part of their holiday celebration to plan ahead by designating a sober driver or calling a cab.”
As part of the NTTA’s sponsorship and its efforts to remind drivers not to drink and drive, NTTA staff is distributing MADD stickers and red ribbons that can be tied onto a vehicle’s antenna. The stickers and ribbons are available from 4-9 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 31 at the NTTA TollTag kiosk at Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco.
