Celebrate Safely This Holiday Season

The NTTA joins WFAA-Channel 8 in reminding drivers to celebrate safely this holiday season, launching the “Celebrate Safely” campaign that aims to stop impaired drivers and encourages all drivers to focus on driving and arriving safely.

Millions of drivers make the poor decision to drive a vehicle while intoxicated, which jeopardizes their safety and the safety of others on the road. Making sure that you and your loved ones enjoy themselves responsibly is one of the most reliable ways to guarantee safety. As part of the “Celebrate Safely” campaign, we offer these tips for a safe holiday season.

Plan a safe way home. Always designate a sober driver before any holiday festivities begin. If you have been drinking, call a cab or ask a sober friend or loved one for a ride home.

Take the keys away. Never let your friends or loved ones drive impaired. Take the keys away and help them make other arrangements to get home safely.

Be a responsible host. If you're hosting a party, remind your guests to plan ahead and designate their sober driver; offer alcohol-free beverages; and make sure all of your guests leave sober or with a sober driver.

Report suspicious driving. If you see a drunk driver on the road, contact local law enforcement immediately. Don’t assume they have already been reported.
