Tolls buy extra dimension of safety on the road

Check your clock. What time is it?

In a darkened room, monitor screens flicker with images captured by about 450 cameras all over the NTTA System. If a mattress falls off a truck, or an accident happens, or someone’s car overheats, the Command Center will know. And even better – it will send someone to help.

More than just a facelift for the DNT gateway to downtown Dallas

Those who have traveled through the southern gateway of the Dallas North Tollway have noticed that one, sometimes two, lanes are closed in each direction and signs are posted for a construction zone.“Basically, we are replacing a 40-year-old toll road,” says Mark Bouma, director of Engineering for the North Texas Tollway Authority.

SH 121 Project

Main lanes on State Highway 121 in Denton County will soon open as a toll road but not an NTTA toll road. It will be operated by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and there will be some differences in the way you are charged. Yes, eventually, your TollTag will work on that toll road, but TxDOT plans to open the road in early July as a free roadway. As we receive more detailed information from TxDOT, we will continue to communicate with all of you, our more than one million TollTag customers.

The initial toll collection system is likely to involve license plate recognition technology as the means of identifying vehicles on the road. In order for your TollTag accounts to be properly charged, you need to be certain that license plate numbers on your TollTag accounts are correct. Please contact us within the next 45 days to ensure that the license plate numbers listed on your accounts are correct. To update your license plate number(s), simply call us at 972-818-NTTA (6882) or go online at www.ntta.org.
