Allen Clemson Selected as New Executive Director

The NTTA Board of Directors selected Allen Clemson as NTTA’s new executive director.  Clemson joined the staff on June 1.

"Following a comprehensive national search, Mr. Clemson emerged as the candidate uniquely qualified to lead the NTTA as it seeks solutions to the region’s transportation challenges of the next decade," stated Paul N. Wageman, chairman of the Board of Directors. "His knowledge of the local landscape and administrative expertise will further the NTTA's ability to address North Texas’ growing mobility needs."

Prior to joining the NTTA, Clemson was the special assistant to the vice chancellor of the University of North Texas Dallas Campus where he oversaw the finance and administration areas.  Previously Clemson was administrator of Dallas County, the ninth largest county in the United States, from 1986 to 2009 where he managed an annual budget of over $800 million and more than 7,000 employees.  While with Dallas County, he managed major transportation and facility construction projects totaling a billion dollars.  He was responsible for innovations such as the development of financial policies, including a capital improvement financing plan that enabled Dallas County to annually fund tens of millions of dollars of major capital projects without the need to issue long-term debt.

His experience includes general operations, government affairs, policy development and implementation, and financial oversight.  A native of North Texas, Clemson received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas.

“I know this was an exhaustive search on the part of the Board to find a suitable candidate, and I feel honored that they have selected me,” said Clemson.

NTTA Chief Financial Officer Janice Davis has been serving as the Authority’s interim executive director since December 2008.  Rick Herrington will continue to serve as deputy executive director.

“The board is grateful for Ms. Davis’ service to the NTTA over the past six months as she has worked closely with us to lead the Authority during this interim period.” Wageman continued.  “We look forward to having the benefit of her financial expertise and leadership as she resumes her duties as the NTTA’s chief financial officer.”
