Changes Coming to ZipCash Billing A significant outcome of the 82nd Texas Legislative session is a change on Sept. 1, 2011 to the NTTA’s toll collection process. The revised toll collection process, as prescribed under Senate Bill 469, will benefit customers who pay on time for travel on NTTA roadways by assessing the cost of the NTTA’s toll enforcement efforts onto the small percentage who refuse to pay.
The NTTA worked with State Sens. Jane Nelson and Wendy Davis and State Rep. Diane Patrick to support legislation that revises the NTTA’s toll collection process signed by Gov. Rick Perry on June 10.
According to the new law, administrative fees for bills more than 75 days past due will still be assessed at $25 per transaction, but fees will be capped at $200 total for each notice of nonpayment. The NTTA may also include an additive fee for payment of collection agency services to pursue the most outstanding toll violators.
As has always been the case, customers who plan to use ZipCash must ensure that the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has their correct home address information so they are billed correctly.
The new requirements prompted by the law will help encourage on-time payment by ZipCash customers, and will help maintain the financial strength of the NTTA and ensure a positive experience for those who use NTTA roads.
