Leadership Profile – Rick Herrington Rick Herrington, the NTTA’s Deputy Executive Director, believes that now is an exciting time for the agency because of its more aggressive role in providing transportation solutions for north Texas.
His role, as a leader of the NTTA, during this active period is to keep the agency focus on providing world-class customer service, building and maintaining the safest roads in north Texas and being responsible stewards of its resources.
“The region’s growth has placed time-sensitive demands on the NTTA and other transportation agencies,” Herrington said. “We are looking forward to working with our transportation partners and regional leaders to meet these demands for the good of the traveling public.”
Since Herrington joined the agency in 1999 as the Director of Information Technology, he has witnessed the NTTA system double in size. He was appointed Acting Deputy Executive Director of the NTTA in February 2007, overseeing operations for the agency. He was the lead negotiator on the SH 121 project for the NTTA, playing a key role in NTTA's ongoing mission of providing mobility solutions to the north Texas region.
Herrington began his career with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in August of 1985 in the Information Systems Division in Austin and was the Information Systems Manager for the Dallas District in his final four years with TxDOT.
Rick attended Schreiner College and Austin Community College and received certification as a Network Engineer. He and his wife, Nicole, have one daughter and live in Frisco, where Herrington is actively involved in community service.
