Update on Tollway South End Renovation Efforts No one said it would be easy, but the renovations to the south end of the 40-year-old-plus Dallas North Tollway are progressing.
In February, crews completed the widening of the southbound Wycliff Avenue as well as paving southbound from Lemmon Avenue to Wycliff. After delays caused by cold and/or wet weather conditions, crews completed striping on the Cedar Springs Road bridge.
Widening of Maple Avenue bridge decks will be completed in March.
The last remnants of the tollbooths, those in the southbound lanes, will be removed in March. The tollbooths in the northbound lanes were removed in January and February.
Also coming up inlate March, southbound traffic from Lemmon Avenue to Wycliff Avenue will be shiftedinto different lanes to open up areas for the new construction. Aside from when the lane barriers are moved overnight, motorists should not see any major impact on traffic flow when the shift occurs to the new lanes.
Motorists traveling on Oak Lawn Avenue will be moved onto different lanes with new concrete paving in Marchwest of the DNT to IH 35.
While the NTTA wants to keep traffic safely moving, during this construction process it is necessary from time to time to reduce lanes or close entrance or exit ramps in the area. As a courtesy to our customers, scheduled lane and ramp closures are posted on the front page of the NTTA Web site, www.ntta.org. Similar information is also available on the NTTA Information Line at (214) 224-3030. Both resources are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
