NTTA, TxDOT Complete SH 161 Project Agreement

At its regularly-scheduled meeting, the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) Board of Directors approved a resolution permitting the interim executive director to execute the State Highway (SH) 161 project agreement, which sets forth the specifics for the road’s construction and subsequent operation. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to consider the agreement next week at the February meeting of the Texas Transportation Commission.

Bush Turnpike Extension Construction Gains Speed

Construction is now underway on four of the five sections of the President George Bush Turnpike’s Eastern Extension (PGBT EE).
Contractors for Sections 28 in Garland and 29 in Sachse and Rowlett received notices to proceed in January and were green lighted to begin work on February 10. Work was already occurring on Section 30, also in Rowlett, and Section 32, the bridge over Dallas’ Lake Ray Hubbard to Interstate 30 (IH 30).

121 Naming Feedback Requested
The NTTA Board of Directors have embarked on a process to formally name the 121 Tollway. At its January meeting, the Board selected three finalists: ‘Interurban Tollway,’ 'Sam Rayburn Tollway,’ and '121 Tollway.'
The decision to name the 121 Tollway began in September 2008 when the NTTA assumed operations, maintenance and construction of the 121 Tollway and it was removed from the state highway system. Other factors used in consideration of naming were customer and first responder clarity, as there are many State Highway 121s throughout the Metroplex in Tarrant County (also known as Southwest Parkway) and in Grapevine to name a few. more »

Customer Service Boosts Call Support
