NTTA Assumes Toll Collection for SH 121

On April 5, the North Texas Tollway Authority assumed responsibility for toll collection on the portion of State Highway (SH) 121 currently open to traffic from Denton Tap Road to old Denton Road. TxDOT will continue maintenance on this roadway until SH 121 is transferred to the NTTA in September according to the SH 121 project agreement. Toll collection for all toll roads in north Texas are now operated by the NTTA, providing you - our valued customer – with one solution for all your tolling needs.

SH 121 is an all electronic toll road with NO cash options available on the roadway. As a TollTag customer you will continue to have your tolls deducted from your account. Vehicles not equipped with a TollTag, TxTag or EZ Tag – other transponders that can be used on SH 121 – will have a photo of the license plate taken and an invoice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle at the ZipCash rate – an average of about 40% higher.

All passenger cars will continue to be charged the same toll rates. However, other vehicle classes may be charged slightly different rates because the NTTA uses an axle-based billing system and Texas Tollways uses a shape-based system. For example, a school bus would be a larger shape under the Texas Tollway system, but a two-axle vehicle under the NTTA’s system of billing. For a complete listing of toll rates, please visit the NTTA’s Web site at http://www.ntta.org/AboutUs/Roadways/TollRates121.htm.

Tolls accrued prior to the April 5 date are still owed to Texas Tollways. Customers will not be billed twice for the same trip. According to Texas Tollways, any unpaid tolls due to them must be paid and, if not paid on time, may be subject to additional fines and court fees. For more information on SH 121 tolls, contact NTTA customer service at 972-818-6882 or to pay your Texas Tollways bill, call 877-991-0033.If you believe you have been sent an invoice in error, please call the NTTA Customer Service Center at 972.818.NTTA (6882). To ensure accurate billing be sure to keep your TollTag account updated.
