Completed SRT/U.S. 75 Interchange Provides Non-Stop Access The NTTA opened the final direct-connecting ramp on the Sam Rayburn Tollway/U.S. 75 interchange in Collin County on March 31, further improving traffic flow in the very busy area of McKinney, Allen and Fairview.
The newest ramp carries motorists from northbound U.S. 75 (Central Expressway) to northeast-bound Rayburn Tollway so that drivers traveling from Allen may directly access east McKinney.
With all major ramps open to traffic, the $212 million mobility project is now fully functional. Over the next several weeks, the contractor will continue working within the project limits on final tasks, including minor work and clean-up items.
“An incredible amount of work was accomplished on this interchange in just two and a half years,” said Elizabeth Mow, NTTA director of project delivery. “The NTTA is very proud of this project. We believe this interchange is a symbol of the NTTA’s continuing commitment to improve mobility throughout our region – and to deliver much-needed transportation solutions in the most rapid way possible.”
Innovative design enhancements and construction techniques also allowed the NTTA to compress the construction schedule to expedite the building of the interchange. The NTTA delivered the project as quickly as possible to reduce traffic interruptions for motorists and businesses and to help drive additional economic development in the area.
With graceful, sweeping curves, the six direct-connecting ramps join the Rayburn Tollway and U.S. 75 to provide nonstop access between both major roadways. Four loop ramps provide drivers with convenient, non-stop access to all of the frontage roads at the interchange.
