Southwest Parkway Construction Reaches Milestone; Chisholm Trail Parkway Town Hall Meeting Scheduled Despite weeks of inclement weather in September, NTTA and its contractor have reached a significant milestone in the advanced construction work in and around the UPRR Davidson Yard on Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway in Fort Worth. Now at 50 percent complete, Section 2C crews have continued to move aggressively and are on schedule. Substructures adjacent to the Hulen Street bridge and Union Pacific Railroad Davidson Yard have been placed, and construction has started for retaining walls connected to Vickery Boulevard and the UPRR Davidson Yard.
Fall season has arrived, bringing with it cooler weather, slighter winds and a decrease in the amount of dust and debris from construction activities on the project. Motorists in Fort Worth can also expect temporary relief in the number of road closures in and around the project area until later phases of construction. Section 2C is projected to be substantially complete in April 2011.
The NTTA is in the process of securing bids on all sections of the SWP/CTP corridor, opening bids on approximately two projects per month. Based on the current plan, all sections of the corridor could be under construction in the second quarter of 2011.
In other SWP/CTP project news, the NTTA has announced plans for a town hall meeting in Johnson County on Oct. 27 to update residents on the Chisholm Trail Parkway section of the corridor project. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 W. Henderson Street, in Cleburne.
