Cashless Tolling Town Hall Reminder Don’t forget! The NTTA’s Cashless Tolling Town Hall meeting is being held Oct. 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., in the NTTA Boardroom, 5900 W. Plano Parkway in Plano.
The come-and-go meeting will provide the ideal opportunity for motorists to have their questions answered and to learn more about the NTTA’s move to cashless toll collection.
The main focus of the meeting will be to present a comprehensive look at the overall cashless tolling project—how much longer construction is expected to last, which structures will change, lane/ramp closures that may affect motorists, what motorists can expect when the conversion occurs on Dec. 10, the technology behind cashless tolling, etc.—and not specifically toll collections or NTTA’s toll collections policy. Should attendees inquire, NTTA staff will be available to answer questions on how TollTags work, the ZipCash process or available methods of payment, but due to the open meeting setting, staff will not be able to discuss individual account information. To resolve individual account activity, customers can contact the NTTA Customer Service Center in person at 5900 W. Plano Parkway in Plano, by calling 972-818-6882, or by visiting the CSC online to manage their accounts. The CSC is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays.
Major construction operations continued last month along the Dallas North Tollway between Interstate 635 and Parker Road in Plano as the NTTA prepares to switch to cashless tolling in December. Half of the columns for the main lane toll gantries were completed, and crews successfully moved work zones to the median, shifting all three main lanes to the outside of the work zones. Once moved, crews were able to begin construction on the other half of the main lane gantry columns.
The overhead toll gantry structure was also assembled and set in place at the main lane gantry location near Parker Road. In November, crews will install the overhead gantry structures near the Trinity Mills Road and Keller Springs Road ramps. In late November, traffic control measures are expected to begin on remaining segments of the DNT, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel and Mountain Creek Lake Toll Bridge in preparation for the conversion on Dec. 10.
Cash will no longer be accepted on the NTTA System once the conversion to cashless toll collection goes into effect. After the conversion, tolls must be paid through a TollTag account or the NTTA’s ZipCash payment method. Customers who use ZipCash—the NTTA's pay-by-invoice toll collection method—pay 50 percent more than customers who have TollTags. TollTags also can be used on any toll road in Texas. Customers whose TollTag accounts are backed with a credit or debit card can use their TollTags for parking and pass-through privileges at D/FW International Airport and for all parking at Dallas Love Field Airport. Customers can have up to three TollTags, a “family pack,” on one account at no additional charge.
Lane and ramp closures are expected to continue as preparation for the conversion continues. To stay informed of lane and ramp closures, subscribe to the weekly project newsletter or visit the project webpage.
