NTTA Board Elects New Officers, Welcomes Two New Directors

At its regularly scheduled September meeting, the NTTA Board of Directors elected Victor T. Vandergriff and David (Dave) R. Denison to chairman and vice chairman, respectively.

Tarrant County appointed Vandergriff to the board in September 2007.  He most recently served as the board’s vice chairman.

Vandergriff is an attorney and private businessman specializing in business development and legislative issues. His current civic and community activities include serving as the chairman of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board and chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Arlington.

Vandergriff also formerly served as vice president of V.T., Inc. and Automotive Investment Group, the largest private retail automotive group in the United States. Vandergriff was involved as an owner, dealer and executive manager in the automobile industry for more than 25 years.

Denton County appointed Denison to the board in October 2005.  He is retired after a 40-year career in real estate investments and development, primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Over the years, he has served in several elected and appointed positions in Denton County and in the region.

Two new appointees are also being welcomed to the boardroom dais.  Duncanville City Manager Kent Cagle joined the NTTA Board of Directors in September and community advocate Jane Willard will join the board in October.

Cagle was appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court in August and replaces Alan Sims, who served on the board since June 2003. Cagle has served as the Duncanville city manager since 2001 and was previously the assistant city manager. He has also worked as a director of budget and risk management and senior budget analyst in the cities of Carrollton and Plano, respectively. Cagle earned a masters degree in public administration from Texas Tech University and has been involved in a number of community organizations. He was the president of the Duncanville Lions Club in 2006, was a member of the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce board of directors and Duncanville Rotary, and was president of the Best Southwest Partnership in 2005.

Willard was appointed by the Collin County Commissioners Court in August and replaces Paul N. Wageman, who has served on the NTTA board of directors since October 2000 and is the board’s outgoing chairman. A Celina resident, Willard currently serves on several county boards, including the parks advisory board, the Collin College Foundation board of directors, the historical commission and Celina Area Heritage Association. She also serves on a committee appointed by the Collin County Commissioners Court to assess the efficiency of various departments in county government.  Willard also served for the last two Collin County bond election steering committees, and she served a second term on the facilities subcommittee.
