Know Before You Go: LBJ Express Project Activity May Affect NTTA Customers

NTTA customers who regularly drive on the Dallas North Tollway in the area of Interstate 635 may notice heavier traffic than usual at the interchange as the LBJ Express project team begins demolishing and rebuilding cross-street bridges along I-635.

Lanes along I-635 will be reduced and shifted significantly, causing possible delays along the Dallas North Tollway for those wishing to exit onto I-635. To see a timeline of the demolition and related traffic closures, visit
www.lbjexpress.com. More information is also available by calling the LBJ Express Hotline at (214) 960-5711.

In the meantime, the President George Bush Turnpike can provide a less stressful alternative route to your destination.

A segment of the New LBJ project will cross over the Dallas North Tollway within the next couple of years. The NTTA is working actively with the LBJ Express project team to minimize future interruptions to travel on the Dallas North Tollway.

Managed lanes are part of the North Texas Region's Metropolitan Transportation Plan and are facilities that add lane capacity to existing freeways by combining high occupancy vehicle (HOV) and new express toll lanes to improve freeway efficiency.  The NTTA does not have any managed lane projects.

The 17-mile LBJ Express project in Dallas encompasses improvements along I-635 from Luna Road to Greenville Avenue, as well as on I-35E between Loop 12 and Valwood Parkway. When complete in late 2015, the LBJ Express will dramatically increase the capacity of the current roadway and reduce traffic congestion. The LBJ Express project is being designed, financed, built, operated and maintained by the LBJ Infrastructure Group LLC, comprised of Cintra US, Meridiam Infrastructure and the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System. The project is overseen by the Texas Department of Transportation.
