Bridge Beams Shaping SRT/DNT Interchange Crews constructing the Sam Rayburn Tollway/Dallas North Tollway interchange are working to finish setting the remaining concrete bridge beams now that all the steel beams have been placed.
Crews recently reopened the southwest-bound SRT exit ramp to Parkwood Boulevard/DNT after a three-month closure, during which they built new bridge structures. And, crews recently opened the new southbound DNT exit to SRT/SH 121.
The SRT/DNT interchange, scheduled for completion in January 2012, will feature eight direct-connecting bridges that will join both toll roads and efficiently move traffic through the growing, congested area.
On top of the eight bridges, crews are pouring bridge decks, placing concrete roadway paving and setting concrete safety barriers. In other areas of the interchange, workers are focusing on retaining wall construction, roadway paving, toll gantries, electrical systems and storm sewers.
Various lane closures will continue in the area over the next several months as crews work as swiftly and as safely as possible to complete the interchange. The NTTA will make every effort to minimize traffic disruptions by scheduling major closures during off-peak hours.
