NTTA Increases Business Opportunities

To ensure that all business organizations have an equal opportunity to bid for various procurements, NTTA leadership has elevated the Authority’s Business Opportunity Program and Policy (BOPP) within the organization. “BOPP”, as it is referred to, is not just a policy; it’s now a department that will consist of professionals dedicated to identifying and working with business organizations that may not have ever done business with the NTTA.

“The Authority has had a Business Opportunity Program and Policy in place since 2002. In coordination with the NTTA Board of Directors, the Executive Director has elevated the program’s role within the agency,” said Irvin Hicks, director of the BOPP Department. “The BOPP team will be working with our internal colleagues and with potential vendors to increase the opportunities for a larger number historically underrepresented, but qualified, organizations who want to do business with the NTTA.”

To help guide the BOPP effort, a new advisory task force has been created to provide counsel. The “BOPP Fair Share Committee” began meeting earlier this year. It is made up of one business representative from each of the NTTA’s four founding counties; Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant. During their monthly sessions, the Committee will discuss strategies to meet BOPP goals and provide periodic recommendations to the NTTA’s executive director.
