Leadership Profile: Jeffrey S. Dailey

As the Assistant Executive Director of Project Delivery for NTTA, Dailey oversees the delivery of all new corridor projects and major improvements to the existing NTTA system.

Prior to joining NTTA, Dailey was the Chief of Engineering for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. There, his expertise was instrumental in the development and passage of the Illinois Tollway’s 10-year, $6.3 billion Congestion-Relief Plan, “Open Roads for a Faster Future.” Designed to benefit the over 1.4 million motorists who travel the Illinois Tollway daily; the plan aimed at reducing traffic and congestion; rebuilding/restoring the entire 274-mile system; widening the Tollway’s major roads; converting 20 mainline toll plazas to open road tolling; and building an eagerly anticipated extension.

Before that, Dailey held county and municipal executive level engineering and management positions in several metropolitan areas. Dailey oversaw government operations and the interactions necessary to successfully plan, fund, implement, maintain, and construct capital improvements in a variety of areas including transportation, storm water management, wastewater treatment, and information technology.

Dailey and the projects and programs he was responsible for have won many awards, including:

  • National Level Award – 2007 Person of the Year – Construction Managers Association of America
  • State Level Award – 2006 Government Civil Engineer of the Year –  Illinois Chapter of the American   Society of Civil Engineers
  • State Level Award – 2006 Construction Advocate of the Year  – Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
