The NTTA Board of Directors approved a joint agreement on Oct. 15 with TxDOT on the development of SH 161 and Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail. The Texas Transportation Commission unanimously approved the agreement at its Oct. 30 meeting in Dallas. Commissioners Bill Meadows and Ted Houghton, as well as NTTA Chairman Paul N. Wageman, spoke about the new partnership which produced this historic agreement. The next step will be to develop and finalize the project agreement on SH 161 with TxDOT. The Commission also voted to immediately return $700 million in cash to the RTC for dozens of local projects that are ready for construction. The $700 million was part of the NTTA’s upfront payment to the region for the 52-year toll contract to finance, construct, operate and maintain the 121 Tollway.
