Business Diversity Outreach Continues

The NTTA is committed to expanding its vendor network by widely promoting contract opportunities to the public.  As part of that effort, the NTTA’s Business Diversity Department hosts Vendor Outreach Symposiums to provide information about upcoming projects and contracts. The Business Diversity Department’s mission is to strengthen the Authority through the inclusion of minority- and woman-owned business enterprises in procurement opportunities. The VOS is a traveling road show and a one-stop outreach for prospective vendors.

The NTTA’s most recent Vendor Outreach Symposium on Oct. 22 at Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development in Dallas attracted nearly 200 people from throughout the Metroplex. Participants had the opportunity to meet the NTTA’s project delivery director, procurement director and information technology director, as well as representatives from the Communications and Maintenance departments. Procurement specialists from the NTTA also showed business owners how to find available contract opportunities online, and several vendors completed their vendor registrations onsite.

A representative of Prairie Link Constructors, the design-build firm that holds the contract to complete construction of State Highway 161 for the NTTA, presented a comprehensive update on the SH 161 project, including subcontracting and supplier opportunities for the next three years.

A question-and-answer session also gave the participants a chance to share ideas.

The director of the North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency provided information about how businesses can become certified as minority- or woman-owned or disadvantaged business enterprises.

The Vendor Outreach Symposium will travel to Collin and Denton counties in the next two months.  You can learn more and register here.
