Government Affairs Update

Regional Transportation Issues
As part of its goal to build partnerships in the region’s transportation network, NTTA leadership recently presented its perspectives on the Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail project during a meeting led by Sen. Kip Averitt.  Several other officials were in attendance, including Rep. Rob Orr, the Johnson County Commissioners Court, Cleburne Mayor Ted Reynolds, Burleson Mayor Ken Shetter, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Chet Edwards, Sen. John Carona and Sen. Wendy Davis.

Federal Transportation
While the NTTA continues preliminary development of its legislative program for the 82nd Texas Legislature, NTTA staff has also been actively monitoring the current debate in Washington as it relates to federal surface transportation legislation.  The NTTA continues to work closely with our partners at the Texas Department of Transportation and other local toll authorities to identify shared initiatives under consideration by Congressional leadership.
