NTTA Board of Directors Approves new payment option - ZipCash at Wycliff Toll Plaza Only

TollTag users will not experience any change with ZipCash. TollTag customers will continue to have tolls charged to their TollTag account. Cash paying customers will travel through the plaza, and a camera will take a photograph of their license plate. When the balance for their license plate has reached a certain level, the NTTA will send a bill to the address associated with that license plate.

TollTag customers are charged $0.60 each time they pass through the Wycliff Toll Plaza. ZipCash customers will be billed $0.75 each time they pass through Wycliff, the same as the current cash toll rate.

Almost 40 years old, the DNT section south of Lemmon Avenue to Interstate Highway 35 (IH-35E) requires the following renovations: pavement replacement, improved overpass bridges, the widening of Oak Lawn Avenue as it approaches the Tollway, new ramp access to Oak Lawn Avenue and the construction of a new Wycliff Toll Plaza.

In addition to the ZipCash initiative, NTTA staff is also working with its contractors to determine additional ways of relieving congestion at the south end of the DNT while construction is occurring, as well as determining ways to expedite construction, which is expected to be completed by late 2008. When finished, the improvements will relieve traffic congestion, provide additional safety enhancements and a state-of-the-art toll plaza.
