Keeping you up-to-date on SH121 The NTTA has submitted its $3.2 billion payment to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the project agreement has been signed, but there are still a few more minor steps that need to occur before the NTTA begins operating State Highway (SH) 121 as a toll road for the next 50 years.
NTTA will assume responsibility for the 25.9 mile all-electronic toll road from McKinney, where SH 121 intersects with U.S. 75, west to near the Tarrant County line in September 2008. At this time, the NTTA will take over maintenance and construction of segments 3, 4 and 5 of SH 121.
When will NTTA officially operate SH 121?
Under the terms of the Project Agreement, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will complete construction of SH 121 from Denton Tap Road in Denton County through Hillcrest in Collin County (Segments 1 and 2). NTTA will also fulfill contractual obligations with regards to signage, gantries and equipment during this period.
When will NTTA take over Toll Operations?
NTTA is expected to take over toll collection operations in early February. TollTag customers should not see a change in their billing. “Pay By Mail” customers will now receive their bill from the NTTA and be subject to the NTTA collection guidelines.
What about the remaining segments of SH 121?
Segment 3 (Hillcrest through U.S. 75) is projected to be complete in 2010
Segment 4 (Interchange at U.S. 75) is projected to be complete in 2011
Segment 5 (Interchange at the Dallas North Tollway) is projected to be complete in 2012
Will I be able to use my TollTag on SH 121 when the NTTA operates it?
You bet! You can use your TollTag on that toll road now and in the future. You can also use your TxTag from TxDOT and EZ Tag from the Harris County Toll Road Authority.
I have just received an invoice for traveling on SH 121. Who can I talk to about it?
