Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge Arch Almost Complete Crews continue to work diligently to finish the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge (LLTB), which will provide a much needed east/west connection in Denton County north of Lake Lewisville. As work on the arch nears completion, crews focus on bringing the concrete decking to meet the signature steel arch.
The bridge construction began with the drilling and placement of 248 drilled shafts to support the structure. The bridge has 194 concrete columns connected by 566 concrete beams. On top of the beams, crews laid a thick concrete slab that makes up the road surface. Once complete, 150,000 tons of concrete will have gone into the 64-foot-wide and 1.7-mile-long bridge structure.
The NTTA still anticipates opening the bridge to traffic in August 2009. The LLTB will give motorists, area residents and boaters an easily recognizable landmark in southern Denton County. Plans are underway for events that will allow the public to view this magnificent structure.
More information about the LLTB project can be found at www.ntta.org.
