NTTA Advances Diversity through ROAD Program Participants in the NTTA’s Relationship and Opportunities Advancing Diversity (ROAD) program were announced in February, and the partnerships established through the program are already at work. The ROAD program was pairs disadvantaged, minority-owned and woman-owned businesses with more established contractors already working the NTTA. The partnerships are designed to broaden the expertise of participants.
In April, each of the six teams participated in an orientation session and planned the next steps for development, including timelines and expectations for success.
One team is comprised of representatives from Vendigm Construction Company and Prairie Link Constructors (PLC) – the firm to win the NTTA’s largest construction contract to-date for Phase 4 of the President George Bush Turnpike Western Extension, also known as State Highway (SH) 161.
“Vendigm has proven to be a very professional company with a well-defined vision,” said Robert Stevens, project director for PLC. “We are excited about the opportunity to work with Vendigm in the ROAD program.”
Anthony Burks, president of Vendigm Construction Company, said PLC staff has demonstrated a “willingness to work hand-in-hand with Vendigm, giving us equal opportunity in creating our future in the ROAD program’s success.”
The ROAD program was established by the NTTA’s Business Diversity Department in 2009.
