Rates to take effect by September 2007

Ramp plaza rates vary but will go up an average of a nickel. The new main toll plaza under construction in Frisco on the DNT extension will be $1.05 for TollTag customers and $1.30 for cash customers. This rate is higher because it is the single main plaza on the 10-mile extension.

Rates for the Mountain Creek Lake Bridge and the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel will remain unchanged at 50 cents. The new Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge projected to be complete April 2009 will be $1.00 for TollTag customers and $1.25 for cash customers.

The NTTA Board approved a Toll Rate-Setting Policy in April 2006, governing how toll rates are developed and adjusted on the DNT System. Tolls on the System have been adjusted only five times since 1968, at an average annual compounded growth rate of 4.4 percent.

"Our region has high expectations for the NTTA to address regional congestion and long-term mobility needs," said NTTA Executive Director Allan Rutter. "This toll rate increase will help us improve our existing system and use our System's leverage to bring about long-needed transportation solutions for North Texas."

NTTA toll rates remain very competitive with other state toll roads with the lowest per mile rates in our region.  Toll rates are set to be adjusted again in 2010 with probable additional rate increases every five years after 2010. As a historical perspective, rates on the Bush Turnpike were increased from 50 cents to 75 cents in 2002. In 1999, differential rates were introduced for transactions collected electronically through TollTags and cash on the DNT. No gas tax dollars are used to fund NTTA toll operations, freeing up gas tax dollars for other transportation needs.
