Dallas North Tollway South End to Close October 21-23

On the weekend of October 21-22, the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) between Northwest Highway and IH-35E will be closed in both directions from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, through 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, in order to begin demolition of the Cedar Springs bridge. The last exit for southbound traffic will be at Northwest Highway. The southbound entrance ramps at Lovers Lane, Mockingbird Lane and Lemmon Ave. will be closed. The northbound Tollway will be closed at Harry Hines Blvd., IH-35E and Wycliff Avenue. Northbound traffic will not be able to enter the roadway until Mockingbird Lane. Signing will be placed on the DNT, IH-635 and Harry Hines Blvd. to notify motorists of the closure.
Eastbound Cedar Springs Road closed October 9 and will remain closed until mid-March 2007. Westbound Cedar Springs at the Tollway will be one lane only. The east end of Lucas Street at Cedar Springs and the Tollway will also be closed during that five-month interval.

NTTA Economic Impact Study Brings Good News
In direct response to questions from our stakeholders about the economic impact North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) toll roads have had on the region, the NTTA Board of Directors commissioned a study in April 2006. The study has quantified a $1.5 billion NTTA investment in roads resulting in an impact of more than $28 billion to the Dallas-Fort Worth economy. We recognize that this economic partnership was a collaborative effort with state and regional transportation agencies, city and county governments and local business leaders.

NTTA Board of Directors Elects New Chairman
The North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors elected Collin County representative Paul Wageman as Chairman and welcomed two new members at a special called board meeting last month. Jack Miller, representing Denton County, was re-elected as Vice Chairman.
Chairman Wageman, a shareholder resident in the Dallas office of Winstead Sechrest & Minick, counsels clients on corporate and governmental matters.

Lake Lewisville Toll Bridge Construction Contract Awarded
The North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors awarded a $93 million contract last month for construction of the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, which will connect the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco at Eldorado Parkway to IH-35E at Swisher Road in Lake Dallas providing commuters a new east-west corridor through Denton County.
The 1.7-mile bridge, scheduled to open to traffic in 2009, will provide a vital link for the 13.8-mile corridor, which is a joint project with Denton County, the NTTA, TxDOT and local municipalities. The four-lane bridge will be the only tolled portion in the corridor. It was designed by Turner Collie & Braden, Inc. and will span the northern arm of the lake.
