NTTA Board Welcomes New Directors

Mr. Miller, who was elected Vice-Chairman on the NTTA Board, is a former council member and Mayor of Denton. He is also a retired human relations consultant and has represented Denton County since he was appointed in 2002. He is a member of the North Central Texas Regional Transportation Council.

Two veterans left the NTTA Board in September, making way for a Plano bank president and a Weatherford airline captain to begin new terms.

David D. Blair Jr., who is leaving the Board after more than nine years, including the last two years as chairman, is a former council member and Mayor of Farmers Branch. A registered professional engineer, Mr. Blair was appointed to the Board by Dallas County.

Marilyn Kay Walls of Cleburne has served on the Board since her first appointment in 1999 by Gov. George W. Bush. She was reappointed by Gov. Rick Perry. Ms. Walls, a school teacher by profession, served 15 years on the Board of Trustees of the Cleburne Independent School District.

Gary Base, president of ViewPoint Bank in Plano, joined the Board to represent Collin County. Mr. Base has an extensive record of interest and involvement in the transportation field.

Robert Kelly Shepard of Weatherford, a Boeing 767 captain for international flights with American Airlines, was appointed to the Board by Gov. Rick Perry.

Other Directors on the Board include:

David Denison of Lewisville, a real estate broker and a member of the American Institute of City Planners, is serving his first term on the Board representing Denton County.

William W. Meadows of Fort Worth is senior vice president of the insurance and financial service organization Rigg Group, Inc. and a former member of the Fort Worth City Council. He is now in his second term on the Board representing Tarrant County.

Alan K. Sims, city manager of Cedar Hill, was first appointed to the Board in 2003 representing Dallas County. He is also president of the North Texas City Management Association.
