SH 121 Continues To Be Free For Now

In the meantime, TxDOT says, the road is tolled at a rate of $0.00 per mile.

When tolling begins, there will be no cash transactions. Electronic toll payers with transponders (e.g., TollTags) will be billed for trips along SH 121 on their current accounts as usual. Vehicle owners without transponders will be identified by photos of their license plates and they will receive statements for the tolls they incur plus a $1 monthly service fee.

During the months before actual tolling begins, a monthly statement will be sent to toll road users who do not have transponders. The statement will show how many times the bill-payer’s vehicle passed through toll gates on the roadway. Since the rate is null and the equipment is in test phase for now, the statement will have a zero balance.

Transponders the TxDOT toll collection system will recognize include TollTag, TxTAG and the Harris County EZ-Tag.
