NTTA Initiates Wycliff Avenue Improvements to Prevent Wrong-Way Drivers

To help eliminate potential wrong-way motorists, the NTTA is working with the City of Dallas on initiating median improvements on Wycliff Avenue between the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) and Maple Avenue. Completion of this project is an important step to enhance customer safety and system sustainability.

Proposed roadway modifications for the southbound DNT exit ramp at Wycliff Avenue will help reduce the chances of an accidental left turn from eastbound Wycliff to the southbound DNT exit ramp to Wycliff. Reducing the accidental left turn risk also helps eliminate the chances of a wrong way driver entering southbound DNT from Wycliff.

The NTTA worked with the City of Dallas to gain approval to proceed with making significant modifications to this area. To date, the Authority has completed plans, specifications and estimates, and is currently coordinating pre-bid activities. The anticipated completion of this project is scheduled for November 2011.
