South End Renovations Progressing The $50-million renovation of the south end of the Dallas North Tollway is continuing. And, the best news… it will all be complete by fall of this year.
Here’s what has been happening in recent weeks:
- At the Wycliff Avenue Main Lane Toll Plaza, the last of the toll booths on the northbound side of the Tollway was removed in January.
- The Cedar Springs Road Bridge is a four-lane facility again. That effort was completed in January and motorists should be experiencing an improved traffic flow along Cedar Springs Road.
- Drainage pipe installation continued along the southbound side of the Tollway from Lemmon Avenue to just north of the Wycliff Toll Plaza. Also, crews are preparing to place new concrete paving in the area, as well.
- Paving operations are nearly complete for the outside lane of the northbound side of the Tollway from north of the Wycliff Toll Plaza to the Lemmon Avenue exit ramp.
In February, a new northbound entrance to the Tollway from Wycliff Avenue will be open to traffic. In this column last month, we mentioned that it will soon be necessary for crews to once again switch which lanes traffic will be using between Wycliff and Lemmon Avenues. That “switch” did not occur in January as reported, so the switch is planned to occur in February.
As always, we will work to get that message out prior to the switch to avoid confusion. In addition to sharing this information with local news media outlets, we will also post this information on our Web site, www.ntta.org.
