NTTA Leadership Profile: Jorge C. Figueredo, Executive Director

Dr. Jorge C. Figueredo dove head first into his position as Executive Director of the NTTA in August of 2007.  He came up for air for the first time in December of 2007. 

Since Figueredo joined the agency, NTTA:
  • delivered on its commitment to the region by writing a $3.2 billion check for the right to construct, maintain, and operate State Highway 121.
  • added an additional 10 miles of roadway to its system, by opening the Phase 3 Extension of the Dallas North Tollway.
  • reorganized its structure to accommodate its new role as a project delivery machine.
Figueredo says that he would like continue building the partnership between the NTTA and customers, cities and counties in the region. By accelerating the delivery of major projects the NTTA will help improve mobility in the region, the economy of north Texas, and the quality of life for its citizens.
 
“The NTTA offers an alternative source of transportation funding at a time when public funds are limited,” he said.  “I would like to build as many projects as we possibly can to keep north Texas drivers moving.”  
 
Mr. Figueredo expresses great appreciation to the NTTA staff for supporting him and helping him get up to speed during his first six months at the agency. 
 
“The NTTA is full of hard-working folks who are truly loyal to the agency,” he added.  “I am in the process of adding my brand of urgency to this mix, with the ultimate goal of building a team committed to meeting the time-sensitive demands placed on mobility providers by this region’s growth.”
 
Born in Havana, Cuba, Figueredo has lived in Florida for the majority of his life.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Radio/Television, Master of Public Administration, and Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Central Florida.   Figueredo has held various senior level positions in the transportation industry over the past 20 years.
